Pemanfaatan Limbah Kotoran Ternak Sebagai Penghasil Energi Alternatif dan Pupuk Organik Bagi Masyarakat Desa Sidomulyo Kabupaten Jember

Abstract

Sidomulyo Village is the main center of Saanen goat and broiler producers also second largest producer of Robusta coffee in Jember. The breeder group Domba Perkasa is one of  broilers and goat breeding groups which has a net turnover of 30 million pieces of chicken sales in one harvest. The coffee farming group in this village has succeeded in producing ground coffee that has increased the value added of coffee products where its marketing area has penetrated in East Java. The problem in this village is the death rate of chickens under 12 days (Day-Old-Chicken / DOC) sometimes reaches 5-10% high per-1000 DOC becauser changes in cold weather factors with rainfall intensity high that is not matched by adequate use of chicken coop warmers. Limited use of warmers due to high operational costs of LPG where in 36 days maintenance spent 250 kg 3 kg size. And for coffee farmer groups, the level of independence and knowledge on the benefits of organic fertilizers is still lacking. Usually fresh livestock dung directly spread to the coffee field without going through the process of fermentation, this usually causes low nutrient content because there is a struggle for nitrogen between coffee plants with the decomposition process of livestock manure. Through this community service try to offer solution to solve existing problems through the making of biogas by utilizing waste waste dung as an alternative energy source to overcome the problem of DOC warming requirement, robusta coffee processing, and fulfill the requirement of cooking. In addition, biogas fermentation can be used as liquid organic fertilizer ready to use with high macro nutrient content that will increase the productivity of coffee plants. The results of dedication show the use of cow dung is said to support problem solving for both partners but for chicken manure can not function optimally.
