Penyuluhan Kesehatan dengan Metode Emo Demo Efektif Meningkatkan Praktik CTPS di MI Al-Badri Kalisat Kabupaten Jember
Abstract
Indonesian people's habits, including children in washing hand with soap (CTPS), are still low. Although handwashing with soap is one of the most effective ways to prevent diarrhea and ISPA, which is the leading cause of child death. Emotional Demonstration (Emo Demo) is one of the imaginative and provocative educational methods to achieve healthy behavior. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of CTPS counseling with Emo Demo method on school-age children in MI Al-Badri Kalisat, Jember District. This research was a quantitative research using experimental pre experimental design One Group Pretest Postest Design with the number of research subjects as many as 47 people. The variables to be studied include the knowledge and practice of CTPS measured using the pretest and posttest knowledge instruments, pretest and posttest observation practice sheets, and extension media using the Emo Demo method. Data collection techniques through interviews and observation. Data were processed using SPSS Version 21 software statistic with Wilcoxon Sign Rank test with α = 0,05. Data collection was conducted in September-October 2017. Prior to the intervention, most of them lacked knowledge and practice (78.8% and 85.1%) and no students had good knowledge and practice of CTPS. After the intervention was done by providing counseling, small group demonstration, and provision of handwashing facilities, most students had moderate knowledge (76.6%) while students with good knowledge were 8.5%. The subjects of CTPS practice were mostly in good category (76.6%) while subjects with less than 1 person (2.1%) training ability. The conclusion of this study is that there is significant difference of knowledge before and after intervention (p = 0,000), there is significant difference in practice before and after intervention (p = 0,000).
