Abstract

Indonesia is the third-largest shrimp producer in the world, therefore the shrimp processing industry produces shrimp waste of 20-30% of its total production. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of Trichoderma sp fermentation on shrimp shell waste. The research was conducted using experimental methods. Isolation and development of fermenter microorganisms were carried out on Trichoderma grown from stale rice and developed in PDA media. The results showed the average density of spores of Trichoderma sp after inoculated into shrimp head flour at the age of 2 (two) weeks of fermentation was 1.4 x 106, but became 5.6 x 107 after being inoculated into shrimp head flour at fermentation age 3 (three) weeks. It can be conclude that Trichoderma sp. grown on the substrate of the shrimp head can be effectively be used to degrade the shrimp head.
