Manuscript Type
General Requirements
Jurnal Ilmu Peternakan Terapan (JIPT) considers scholarly manuscripts that contribute to the advancement of applied animal science and livestock-related technologies. Submissions must demonstrate scientific relevance, methodological rigor, appropriate interpretation of evidence, and clear implications for research or practice.
The journal's principal manuscript categories are original research articles and review articles. Each submission must fall within the journal's focus and scope and comply with the applicable author guidelines. Assignment to a manuscript category does not guarantee acceptance.
1. Original Research Articles
Original research articles report new empirical findings derived from appropriate scientific methods. Studies may address animal production; reproduction and physiology; feed nutrition and technology; forage; animal health; animal socio-economics; animal products technology; or the livestock industry.
An original research article should normally include the following elements:
- Title: a concise and informative description of the study.
- Abstract and keywords: a summary of the research objectives, methods, principal findings, and conclusions, followed by relevant keywords.
- Introduction: the scientific background, relevant literature, research gap, objectives, and, where appropriate, hypotheses.
- Materials and Methods: sufficient detail about study design, experimental animals or research subjects, location, treatments, sampling, measurements, instruments, data collection, and statistical analysis to permit critical evaluation and, where feasible, reproducibility.
- Results: a clear presentation of findings supported by appropriate tables, figures, or statistical summaries.
- Discussion: interpretation of the results in relation to the objectives, previous studies, scientific principles, limitations, and practical implications.
- Conclusion: a conclusion directly supported by the findings and consistent with the study objectives.
- Declarations and References: applicable statements concerning ethics, funding, conflicts of interest, author contributions, data availability, acknowledgements, and cited literature.
Experimental studies should describe the experimental design, treatment allocation, replication, sample size, measurement procedures, and statistical methods with sufficient clarity. Claims of treatment effects or differences must be supported by appropriate analyses and should not exceed the evidence obtained.
2. Review Articles
Review articles provide a critical synthesis of published evidence on a topic within applied animal science. They should do more than summarize individual studies; they should evaluate the strength and consistency of available evidence, identify knowledge gaps, discuss limitations, and explain implications for research, policy, or livestock practice.
Authors should explain how the literature was identified and selected, including the sources searched, relevant search terms or selection criteria, and the approach used to organize and interpret the evidence, as appropriate to the type of review. Systematic reviews should describe their methods transparently and follow relevant reporting guidance when applicable.
Review articles must cite the original sources of the evidence discussed and must not present previously published findings as new experimental results. The conclusions must be balanced and supported by the literature reviewed.
Research Subjects and Scope
JIPT may consider studies involving farm animals such as chickens, ducks, quails, cattle, buffaloes, sheep, goats, pigs, and horses. Research concerning relevant non-domesticated Indonesian endemic animals, including silkworms, bees, deer, and anoa, may also be considered when scientifically justified and within the journal's scope.
Studies involving animals must provide sufficient information about the species, number of animals, experimental conditions, relevant procedures, and measures taken to protect animal welfare. Ethical approval or an explanation of the applicable ethical status must be provided when required by the nature of the research and the applicable institutional or national rules.
Originality and Suitability
Manuscripts must be original submissions and must not be under simultaneous consideration by another journal. Material that has appeared previously, including substantial overlap with conference papers, theses, repositories, or other publications, must be disclosed at submission so that the editorial team can assess its relevance and originality.
The journal may decline manuscripts that fall outside its scope, lack sufficient scientific contribution, contain major methodological deficiencies, fail to meet ethical requirements, or do not comply with submission instructions. Manuscripts that pass the initial screening remain subject to editorial assessment and peer review under the journal's applicable procedures.
